Five people, including two drivers, have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident at Kubease near Ejisu after a KIA Grandbird bus collided head-on with a Man Diesel Cargo truck. Several others who sustained various degrees of injury, are receiving treatment at the Ejisu Government Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. It took the intervention of the Fire Service, Ambulance Service and the police Motor Transport and Traffic Department with the support of some residents to rescue the victims. Preliminary police investigations reveal the driver of the KIA bus which was travelling from the Accra-Kumasi direction veered into the lane of the oncoming cargo from the opposite direction. "At the scene, we saw that the KIA Grandbird has abandoned his way and drove into the lane of the Man Diesel truck and they collided. "In fact, there were people who sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the Ejisu Government Hospital. I'm told some have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital," Ejisu District Commander of the police Motor, Transport and Traffic Department, ASP George Owusu Aboagye revealed. ASP George Owusu Aboagye says the impact of the collision was so severe. At the scene, we also found dead bodies of about five; four from the KIA Grandbird and one from the container truck. The two vehicles, the KIA bus with registration GT-3335 -16 and the cargo truck with registration GR 2207 - W have been damaged beyond repairs. Maize, beans and personal belongings mixed with blood are scattered at the scene of the accident, drawing curious spectators to the scene. Though police have cleared the two vehicles from the middle of the road, the Accra-Kumasi section of the road continues to witness heavy vehicular traffic. "As I speak, we have been able to clear the road. We solicited the assistance of road safety from Konongo; they came and pulled all the vehicles from the road so now the road is motorable."
